A— was sitting in her bed, typing. I stopped in the door to ask her to eat. Somehow we got on the topic of art, and then A— was talking about how you just had to do it. At first, I smiled knowingly, tuning her words out. Then, I thought why? Why am I not listening to the advice of someone who is going through what I want to go through? Whether the words are old or new. No matter whether it is something I feel or know. I need to listen.
There is a kind of listening that goes Deeper beyond just taking in sound It requires a kind of acceptance. It allows The listener to receive and claim the Sounds that are given. Too often we just let the words of Another bounce off the ear, like a Meteor that has not gained enough Velocity for entry into the earth’s Atmosphere. How do you change the way Your mind accepts thoughts in?
